Your Step-by-Step Guide to Becoming an Owl
Now is the best time to apply to Keene State! The sooner we receive your application and all supporting documents, the sooner you’ll get a decision, which allows you to make your choice faster and begin the financial aid process earlier.
Whether you’re a first-year college student or you are transferring to Keene State, we’re here to help make each step of becoming an Owl as easy as possible. SAT and ACT scores are no longer needed to be considered for acceptance.
Step 1: Submit Your Application
- First year Students apply using the Common Application
- Transfer students apply using the Transfer Application.
- International students apply using the Common Application
Step 2: Send Your Transcripts
- If you are a first-year applicant, you must submit your official high school transcript.
- If you are a transfer student, submit all official high school and college transcripts. High School transcripts can be waived if you’ve earned an associates degree. Transfer students have earned 13 or more credits after graduating from high school that can be applied to college. Transfer Credit Explorer
- If you are a home-schooled applicant, submit a transcript containing a list of coursework with descriptions.
Admissions at Keene State is handled very similarly for homeschoolers as it is for traditionally schooled students. We actively seek out and encourage homeschoolers to apply!
- Students are expected to submit a transcript containing a list of coursework with descriptions. Students must meet all state regulations per their home state and in most cases, the homeschool diplomas are accepted.

Step 3: Check your application status
Once you’ve submitted your application to Keene State, the admissions office will email you a link to track your application. Check this link to ensure that all required application materials have been received.
Step 4: Complete the FAFSA
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to award federal grants, loans, work-study, and other forms of gift aid. We encourage you to file well before the March 1 deadline to maximize the amount of aid you’re offered. Keene State’s federal school code is 002590.
Dual Admission at New Hampshire community colleges and Keene State College.
The power of two! Pay one application fee and take advantage of a new educational pathway that allows you to enroll at one of the seven New Hampshire Community Colleges and be admitted into the Keene State College at the same time. You’ll complete an associate degree at a community college and then transition to Keene State.
